Sustainability
As we release the 2nd edition of SolarGy's ESG Report (2024/2025) this June, we take a moment to reflect on the direction we have deliberately shaped over the past two years. This edition goes beyond a summary of our efforts — it reflects the choices we have made as a team, guided by where we see the industry, and Singapore, is heading.
For 18 years, SolarGy has been committed to advancing renewable energy adoption through solar PV. However, as the sustainability landscape continues to evolve, we recognise that meaningful impact requires more than simply generating clean energy. It requires a broader commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles across every aspect of our business and the projects we undertake.
Beyond rooftop solar, we have consciously positioned ourselves to support larger infrastructure and more complex developments, recognising that the next phase of solarisation will require deeper integration into the built environment. This has led to the establishment of our BIPV business pillar, alongside our involvement in major projects such as the 20MWp Jurong Region Line. We also hosted our first BIPV seminar, bringing together developers, architects, consultants and industry stakeholders to drive meaningful conversations on façade-integrated solar solutions. This move reflects our broader intent to contribute to the next wave of solar adoption in Singapore, where design, infrastructure and sustainability come together seamlessly.
In tandem with our ESG framework, we believe it is increasingly important for large public infrastructure projects to take cognisance of ESG considerations not only during operations, but also throughout the construction phase. The construction industry has a significant influence on resource consumption, waste generation, carbon emissions, worker welfare and supply chain practices. Decisions made during project planning and execution can have a lasting impact on climate change mitigation efforts and the overall sustainability outcomes of a development.
As EPC contractors, we have a responsibility to look beyond project delivery timelines and costs. We must also consider how projects are executed — from responsible sourcing and material selection, to waste minimisation, environmental protection, workplace safety, worker well-being and ethical business practices. We believe that integrating ESG principles into project execution creates long-term value for asset owners, communities and future generations.
At the same time, we have strengthened our internal ESG commitments. From recycling used solar panels and materials, to encouraging carpooling, reducing resource consumption, and placing greater emphasis on employee welfare, training and professional development, these are practical initiatives that we believe will create lasting impact over time. While individually modest, collectively they contribute towards building a stronger culture of sustainability and responsibility within our organisation.
This report therefore reflects not just what we have accomplished, but also how we intend to move forward - with purpose, accountability and a long-term commitment to sustainable value creation. As Singapore accelerates its sustainability ambitions, SolarGy remains committed to being a trusted partner in delivering clean energy solutions while championing responsible business practices that contribute to a more resilient and sustainable future.
We’re excited to share that Solargy Pte Ltd has officially moved into our new office at:
70 Ubi Crescent, #01-12, Ubi Techpark, Singapore 408570
This new space is more than just an office. it has been thoughtfully designed to facilitate growth, collaboration, and innovation as we continue to drive impact in the solar and green building sectors.
Built for Growth and Collaboration
Our new office reflects our vision of how Solargy will work in the future and was strategically designed to enable scalability, foster innovation, and encourage employee learning and growth. Here’s how:
- Increased office space that provides room for company expansion and empowers us to take on more opportunities and larger projects.
- Collaborative work zones that serve as creative hubs where teams can brainstorm, co-design, and problem-solve.
- Upgraded IT infrastructure and video conferencing facilities allow seamless collaboration within the company and across external partners and global clients.
- True-to-size BIPV and PV mock-ups for clients to tangibly experience solar solutions up close, allowing the office to double up as a showroom for innovation.
- A welcoming communal area designed for townhalls, learning sessions, and industry events that will help our employees learn and grow.
- Natural light access, acoustic comfort, and open circulation pathways promotes employee wellbeing which fuels productivity and creativity.
Together, these features ensure the office supports not just our daily operations, but also innovation, stronger collaboration, and the company’s strategic growth.
Sustainability at Our Core
True to Solargy’s values, our relocation was carried out with a heavy emphasis on sustainability, reuse, and healthier workplace design. We took deliberate steps to reduce waste generation and minimize environmental impact by:
- Reusing rock wool from the previous office setup, extending the lifecycle of existing materials.
- Retaining air-conditioning components and outdoor units, maintaining comfort efficiently while avoiding unnecessary replacements.
- Donating and/or recycling PCs and furniture to support circular economy practices.
- Using only low-VOC and formaldehyde-free finishes for healthier indoor air quality.
- Installing acoustic panels to create a more comfortable working environment.
- Selecting energy-efficient monitors and appliances to lower energy consumption and minimize our carbon emissions.
These choices align with the same principles we bring to our solar projects – reducing waste, enabling sustainability, and building a greener future.
Looking Ahead
Our new office is a launchpad for Solargy’s next chapter. It gives us the space and infrastructure to:
- Grow our capabilities
- Take on larger opportunities and projects
- Foster innovation through stronger collaboration
We look forward to welcoming our clients, partners, and collaborators to our new home as we continue shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future together.
At SolarGy, sustainability is not just a goal, it is the foundation of our business. We are proud to present our inaugural Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, which reflects our deep-rooted commitment to building a cleaner, more resilient future through solar innovation.
This report highlights our efforts from FY2023 to embed sustainability into every facet of our operations – from advancing renewable energy solutions and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to promoting ethical business practices and empowering our people. Guided by our vision to be a market leader in innovative solar technologies, we align our strategies with global frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Singapore’s Green Plan 2030.
As you explore this report, you’ll discover how we’re integrating sustainability into our operations while actively engaging stakeholders, promoting circular economy principles, and striving for carbon neutrality. We invite you to join us on our journey as we seek to harness the power of the sun to illuminate a brighter, more sustainable world.
